Beyond the Cut: Inside Nitetive’s Trippy Vision

Nitetive is a video editor driven by passion, creativity, and a desire to stand out from the classic industry standards. Since 2019, he has been turning inspiration from music videos and fan edits into his own unique “trippy-psychedelic” style. Whether working on nostalgic car edits or experimental visuals, Nitetive focuses on making people feel good, entertained, and inspired. Always pushing boundaries, he’s exploring new concepts, collaborating closely with his team, and shaping a personal artistic identity that goes beyond trends.

How did “nitetive” come to life, and what was the initial spark behind the project?

That was back in 2019, when I really started focusing on it. I saw a lot of opportunities to grow your style and "brand" as a video editor. And for the spark, it really came watching videos like Playboi Carti - Magnolia or A$AP Ferg - Plain Jane. It was fun.. I just felt a lot of passion for editing videos and looked at it more as a creative experience rather than matching the classic industry standards. This era was crazy. The AWGE videos was really 80% of the initial spark aha. I literally started by making Flacko and Carti “fan edits visuals”.

When you start a new piece, where do you begin and what’s your typical creative process like?

That's an interesting question. When I start a project, I always like to write ideas and sketch out the effects or main frames I want to create in my notebook. Pretty much visualizing the video before working on it. I’ve been doing this creative process since the very beginning and it always helped (+kinda makes the work more enjoyable). Definitely recommend it if you struggle with creative block!

Is there a common thread that ties all your works together, a theme or emotion that always comes back? Which artists, movements, or visual references have had the biggest impact on your style?

I just want people to enjoy my vids. I’d say the main theme or emotion that ties my work together is simply making fun and cool edits. I love when people say, “I knew this was a Nitetive edit,” even before seeing my name. I'm known for making "trippy-psychedelic" edits, so that's definitely a part of my main theme too.
For example, in my last car edit (Umihotaru PA Car Meet), I played with more nostalgic, 2000's references and a warm feeling, with always the goal of just making people feel good or inspired while watching it.

What’s a dream project you’d love to make happen, even if it feels far or challenging right now?

I'd love to creatively direct projects and creative visuals for brands, even videogames. I'm mostly editing music videos so these types of projects are always a breath of fresh air and I can usually be more creative. But honestly, my main dream is just to keep going and pushing. I love my job and enjoy expressing myself through these vids, so I’m already living my dream right now. Gotta be grateful for it for real!

How do you see “nitetive” evolving in the next few years?

In the next few years I want to keep pushing my identity as an artist and making more personal work outside of music videos. Lately I’m creating more content with cars, brands and experimenting a bit more. Deeper meaning projects, more authenticity, that's what really matters now. Not chasing trends, just taking time to build and create some cool new concepts and visions!

I also have a video team with my good director friend Kyowa that I really want to keep pushing. I love having this "close team" aspect with some projects. Sometimes editing videos just as "freelancer" alone can feel repetitive, so it’s good to mix things up and keep the brain sharp. S/O my twin Kyowa.

I'm always trying to learn and bring fresh ideas, that's really what drives me in life!
